November 8, 2016

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! The regular season is officially over and we have finally arrived at playoff time! Let’s start this playoff run by taking a look at the final standings for the regular season.

Eastern Division –

Chickabos (10-1-1)

Titan’s Banana Hammock (9-3)

Melusine Marauders (7-5)

Balamb T-Rexaurs (7-5)

Red Wings (1-11)

Western Division –

Super Senpai Megaforce (10-1-1)

Edelweiss Avengers (6-6)

Verminion Lords (5-7)

El Negro Grande (4-8)

BeemBo USA (0-12)

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. We have two teams tied for first place overall at 10-1-1, one in each division. So if the Chickabos and the Super Senpai Megaforce meet up in the Hyperbowl, they will play their game on neutral territory. Beyond them, the Edelweiss Avengers and Titan’s Banana Hammock have also qualified for the post-season while the other teams are free to hit the golf course and start focusing on next year.

With no waiver wire available in the post season, let’s shift our focus to this week’s match-ups. And to our American viewers, why not cast a vote tonight that you can actually enjoy?!

Our first match-up is the Western Division Championship. The 10-1-1 Super Senpai Megaforce will be hosting the 6-6 Edelweiss Avengers in the Chaos Shrine. During the season, these teams met twice with the Megaforce taking the win on both occasions. Experts will tell you it’s hard to beat any team twice in a season, much less thrice, but the Megaforce has been up to just about every challenge thrown their way. While the Megaforce has not made a roster move all season, the Avengers have made many. This was due in large part to a punishment levied on them in the first week after trying to forfeit their week 1 match up. That punishment by the way will not be completed until Season 3 where the Avengers will pick last. While the odds seem stacked against them, it’s important to remember that the Avengers are represented by last season’s Champion: GM Kallo Landis. Having a GM who knows what it takes to win can be a hefty advantage, though first time GM Suren Kayanian has certainly proven to be no slouch. This will prove to be a very interesting match-up indeed.

Over in the Eastern Division Championship, the 10-1-1 Chickabos will be welcoming 9-3 Titan’s Banana Hammock to the Missing Member. These teams met twice during the regular season with the Chickabos winning both match-ups, although they were some of our closer games of the season. The match sees two returning GMs from last season. Chickabos GM Nika Kayanian was a cellar dweller last season, but has turned it all around, tying for the best record in the league this season. Titan’s Banana Hammock GM Poppa Woody was competitive until the end of the season last year, and has continued to improve throughout Season 2. Poppa Woody’s squad maintains the third best record in the league. Interestingly, neither of these teams made a single roster move this season, both maintaining the squad that was drafted. Who will advance to the Hyperbowl? Only you can decide!
